Make-A-Wish…to meet John Terry

It is great to know that our efforts of 2015 are fulfilling some wishes. 19 cyclists representing the Jones Engineering Group completed the Mizen to Malin cycle challenge, completing the course in 3 days and covering 602kms, and in the process raised €61,390.00 for Make-A-Wish Ireland.

This money has gone on to help children’s dreams come true, such as Bobby (age 8) who got his wish and met his hero John Terry and some of the Chelsea FC players during a training session. Bobby was greeted warmly by John who had organised to have a kickabout with him on arrival. There were further surprises when more Chelsea FC players arrived with a signed jersey and soccer ball.

The surprises didn’t end there though! John generously gifted his jersey, boots, and even his Captain’s armband! He then spent the morning with Bobby answering all his questions and made sure they made some amazing memories that will last a lifetime.

After his wish came true, Bobby said he’d had a “deadly” day and when he was asked how happy he was on a scale of one to ten, he said: “2 million, no 10 million!” John added: “Well, what makes me happy is seeing you smile like that.”

Thank you to Make-A-Wish Ireland, John Terry and Chelsea FC for making Bobby’s wish come true.
