Congratulations Ray and Peter on receiving Lean Black Belt Qualifications

Lean Black Belt

L-R: Ray Curley and Peter Cooney

Congratulations to our very own Ray Curley and Peter Cooney on receiving their LEAN black belt qualification from University of Limerick this month. It is not often you get two guys with as much service and experience as these two have who are willing to continue their education. The adoption of LEAN principles by leading companies in recent years is increasing and Jones Engineering are continuously improving performance in this area.

In 2014 when we rekindled our Lean journey and started our development sessions with groups of employees from different levels within the company, we looked for volunteers to step up and take on the challenge of further education in the Lean area.

The “Specialist Diploma in Quality Management – Lean Systems” at University of Limerick was identified as one of the best and most appropriate to our industry. This NFQ Level 9 course takes twelve months to complete running over three semesters of fifteen weeks each.

A company based project forms a key element of the programme and ensures the integration of the various concepts into the workplace. This project is expected to realise significant savings and improvements for the participant organisation. Upon successful completion of their projects, both men received honours degrees and are now qualified Black Belts in Lean Management.
