Jones Engineering Group claims First Prize for BIM Initiative of the Year 2015
The Irish Building & Design Awards 2015 took place on 24th April 2015 at a Black tie event held at the Ballsbridge Hotel in Dublin. These awards are the Construction Industry’s most prestigious recognition of excellence in the Building and Design sectors. One of the many categories being acknowledged on the night was the BIM (Building Information Modelling) Initiative of the Year. The category was open to any organisation that has pioneered new ways of working within a BIM enabled environment to make project design, delivery and operation more effective.
Commercial competitiveness combined with fast-track schedules and increasing project complexities are driving a need for change. In order to be strategically positioned for the future, Jones Engineering Group recognised the need to embrace emerging industry practices including LEAN Construction and the implementation of BIM technology.
BIM has rapidly emerged over the last number of years and is quickly replacing traditional construction methods in project delivery. In anticipation of this fundamental step change in the Construction Industry, Jones Engineering Group recognised the benefits and opportunities associated with adapting BIM, establishing a core BIM Team and a Centre of Excellence.
By successfully integrating LEAN Construction with BIM, Jones Engineering Group enhanced 3D BIM capabilities from what was initially considered an optional Construction Aid to become the framework of project delivery, achieving productivity improvements of up to 70% across various project departments.
