Jones Engineering Group Client Cycle Day

On Friday June 5th the 3rd annual Jones Engineering Group Client Cycle Day in the company of cycling legend Sean Kelly took place. The venue this year was Naas GAA Club, Co. Kildare from where almost 70 cyclists with lead and support vehicles undertook 2 cycle routes. In line with our group 125 year celebration, group A undertook a 125 kilometre challenge while group B had a maintenance demonstration with Barry Meehan before embarking on a 68 kilometre challenge.

Group A left Naas GAA club around 9.30am heading north through Sallins, then west through Prosperous and Allenwood, south through Rathangan and the Curragh, swinging east after Kilcullen through Ballymore Eustace and on to Russborough House for a well deserved break at the 70km mark . Group B were also on the road having set off around 11.30am heading south towards Ballymore Eustace and arriving at Russborough House just after Group A.

After lunch both groups headed off in opposite directions around Blessington Lake. The weather was perfect and the scenery spectacular. For some this part of the route was the toughest as a number of hills had to be conquered. In this respect it was good to see a number of Jones Engineering cyclists and clients working hand in hand, supporting and encouraging each other to put that extra effort in to conquer the hills, which is what our client cycle day is all about.  Back in the clubhouse after dinner the group rolled back the years listening to Sean Kelly’s roll of honour, his sweetest victories and the progress of his An Post CRC cycling team based in Belgium.

All in all a very successful day in which €1280.00 was raised for locally based charity Jack & Jill Foundation. Thanks to all who attended and helped in any way to make this day a success.
