Jones Engineering continues sponsorship with ESB Science Blast
It’s never too early to discover STEM and start exploring the world of engineering. That’s why Jones Engineering were thrilled to partner with ESB once again for their annual event, Science Blast.
Science Blast is a free, non-competitive programme for children aged 8 – 12. The objective is to get children interested in STEM through hands-on investigations, teaching them critical thinking skills, all whilst generating enthusiasm for science-based subjects. We are strong believers in cultivating creativity and igniting a passion for learning from a young age, making the decision to routinely support Science Blast simple.
Prior to the event, we held a competition for the children of Jones employees, inviting them to submit their best piece of artwork that fit specific engineering related prompts. The winner’s artwork would then be the blueprint for the design of our Science Blast booth. After some very tough deliberation, Ciara, age 12, was the winner with an amazing illustration. Congratulations Ciara!
At the RDS we had two interactive games for the children to engage with. They all had a blast competing against each other in Strike a Light and taking a turn in the Cyclone Machine. It was great to have the opportunity to give them an overview of what we do at Jones whilst they waited in the queue, hopefully planting a seed of inspiration for a future career in engineering.
On the final day of the event, we were privileged to welcome President Catherine Connolly to our booth. She took the time to speak with members of our team and greatly admired the interactive booth we had, even taking the opportunity to try out the Cyclone Machine herself! President Connolly attending Science Blast highlights the importance of the event and the benefits associated with promoting STEM to children from a young age.
We remain committed to building a diverse and motivated work force, showing that Engineering is a viable future career path, accessible to all.
