We provide the latest solutions in lighting control and energy monitoring resulting in energy efficiency for our clients. We have the capability to design and install high availability power distribution systems including diesel generator and UPS systems. We have experienced teams familiar with a number of industry sectors for example our office teams have worked on a number of projects involving flexible and scalable modular office power systems, while our Data Centre team is particularly skilled with structured cabling and fibre optic networks.
A high percentage of the electrical projects we complete involve connection with the national grid and connection of a High Voltage/Medium Voltage supply. Our projects range from 10kV right up to 220kV. Our teams carefully coordinate and liaise with the utility provider in regard to the design, installation, testing and commissioning for site acceptance of power from the utility provider and connection to the grid supply. We provide our clients with a Single Source Maintenance and Asset Care Solution for their facilities, covering all aspects of Mechanical, Electrical, Fire Protection, Heavy Lifting and Instrumentation. We operate a nationwide service using a centralised management system with a 24 hour help desk. We have a portfolio of over 500 clients in a variety of market sectors including Healthcare, Public Sector, Food & Beverage, Power & Energy, Manufacturing, Life Science and Electronic etc.
We provide mechanical, electrical and instrumentation services to various AGI’s across the gas transmission network in Ireland and the main Gas compressor station in Cork. In the 1980’s we set up a company called Citygas, and were responsible for the conversion of the entire city of Dublin, domestically and industrially from old towns gas to Natural Gas. We have worked continuously with Marathon (Ireland) since 1978 on their two offshore gas platforms, undertaking installation and maintenance contracts for electrical, instrumentation and control systems.
We install, monitor and maintain numerous client Building Management Systems (BMS) which help reduce energy and maintenance costs by maintaining building temperatures within a specified range, lighting rooms according to an occupancy schedule, monitoring performance and device failures in all systems and notifying facility managers in the event of a malfunction.
Stephen McCabe joined Jones Engineering in 1987. He is Group Director and shareholder. Stephen holds a Master’s Degree in Building Services Engineering, is a member of Engineers Ireland and ASHRAE and has worked across all sectors of the industry.
Stephen was responsible for the establishment of the Group in Saudi Arabia and the UK in 2010. Over the years the Group has completed a number of complex projects in these locations including Almarai Infant Nutritional Plant, Eton Manor in the Olympic Village, London and Riyadh Metro Project, KSA.
In 2012, Stephen was central to the establishment and development of Jones Celtic BioEnergy. This division provides a complete solution for the generation of renewable energy from biodegradable sources. Projects include Fife Council, BDR Shanks and Milton Keynes.
Tim Ferris joined Jones Engineering in 2006 as Contracts Manager. Tim has responsibility for the management and future development of the Electrical Divisions of Jones Engineering and was appointed to the board of Directors in 2014.
Tim has completed an impressive portfolio of projects in countries such as Spain, Saudi Arabia, Abu Dhabi, the UK and Ireland. He has worked on projects in Hotel & Commercial, Oil & Gas, Power Generation, Life Science, Data Centres and Healthcare sectors.
Tim is a Chartered Construction Manager – MCIOB, a Member of the IEI and a Graduate of MTU. He currently represents the Electrical services sector on several committees in the CIF. He is the Chairman of the CIF Construction 4.0 subcommittee who report in to the Construction Sector Innovation and Digital adoption Group – who report to the Governments Construction sector group.
He is a Past president of the Electrical Contractors Association of Ireland (ECA)
Robbie Irvin, a time served craftsman and also a qualified Engineering Technician, joined Jones Engineering in 1992. Robbie was appointed to the Board of Directors in 2020.
Robbie’s expertise particularly lie’s in large-scale, Mission Critical, Healthcare and Building Services projects. He successfully managed the services installation packages on many of Jones Engineering’s largest and most complex projects in Ireland, UK and Europe.
Robbie is a member of several professional organisations including Institute of Engineering & Technology, Institute of Leadership & Management and Institute of Project Management of Ireland. He has also served on the Solas Electrical Apprenticeship Standards Development Group and currently sits on the Contract Committee in the CIF.
Shane Lennon joined Jones Engineering in 2003 as a Project Manager and is an Operations Director of our Electrical Division. Shane manages a number of our highly skilled Electrical Data Centre teams in Ireland and Europe delivering large Hyperscale projects to co-location Data Centres.
Shane has specialised HV & MV experience including prestigious projects such as the MV Upgrade in Dublin Airport and a 220KV substation in Europe. He has completed extensive LEAN Training and is certified as Project Supervisor Construction Stage by the CIF. Shane is also a time served craftsman.
Kevin White joined Jones Engineering in 1989 as an Apprentice Electrician. He was appointed as an Operations Director of our Electrical Division in 2020 with responsibility for Semi-conductor, Data Centre, Building Services and Pharmaceutical sectors.
Kevin has worked on a wide range of projects including Swords Labs, Astellas, AIB Ballsbridge, Point Village and a blue-chip semi-conductor client. He is a founding member and Director of LEAN Construction Ireland and has also completed a dissertation in LEAN (C.L.I.P).
