St James’s Hospital has signed a new Energy Performance Contract (EPC) with Veolia in partnership with the Carbon and Energy Fund Ireland (CEFI). This EPC implementation is the largest of its kind in Irish healthcare to date.

The contract will deliver €26 million in guaranteed energy and operational savings. The hospital’s carbon footprint will be reduced by approximately 118,380 tonnes, cutting electrical consumption by 26% per annum. The new energy efficient equipment will also reduce the dependency on the Dublin 8 electrical grid and places the hospital in an optimum position to reach its 2030 climate targets.

We will be completing mechanical and electrical works on this impressive portfolio project. It is a Design Construct contract and part of our scope will include converting the existing steam boilers to low pressure hot water boilers and CHP plant, upgrading in excess of one hundred and eighty pumps throughout the hospital and upgrading the AHU’s in twelve operating theatres.

We have a long history working with St. James’s Hospital, we installed the complete mechanical services to St James’ Hospital Energy Centre in the mid 1980’s and we have been engaged to provide maintenance services in various capacities since. We currently provide mechanical services support together with a full-time site-based trades support and a 24-Hour emergency call-out service, 365 days a year. We have also been successfully engaged in several minor works construction projects on the site.
