Company Activity

At Jones, we recognise the growing awareness around the demand for responsible business behaviour with issues relating to sustainability, ethics and respect for all of our stakeholders. We are extremely passionate about culture, diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace and recognise the impacts that they have on both their environment and the society in which they operate.

Jones Engineering (Sweep)ing through our Sustainability Goals

As Jones Engineering continues to sweep across the globe, our ambition is to continue to grow in a responsible and sustainable manner. We want to create a positive impact and understand the environmental and social impacts of everything we do. Jones Engineering extends this belief to our clients, employees, and all those working within our supply chain, to safeguard our integrity.

We launched our Responsible Business Framework in 2022 which keeps us aligned in meeting our goals. The Framework consists of four pillars: Our People, Our Planet, Our Products & Services, and Our Community.

Under “Our Planet”, we strive to minimise our environmental impact through improved resource efficiency, reducing Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, water use, and waste generation. In 2024, our Science Based Targets were approved. Jones Engineering Gas committed to reducing absolute Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions by 50.4% by 2032 and reducing Scope 3 GHG emissions by 50.4% within that same timeframe from a 2022 base year.

In 2019 we began calculating our Scope 1 & 2 GHG emissions and in 2022 we completed a GHG assessment covering Scope 1,2, and 3 emissions. This assessment highlighted some issues that would need rectifying, including:

  • Low frequency of reporting
  • Manual data processing
  • High resource demand
  • Scope 3 data collection challenges

At Jones Engineering, we hold ourselves accountable and knew that to maintain our well-regarded reputation, some major investment into carbon accounting programmes would be needed.

Our solution was to join Sweep, a systematic solution for collecting and measuring data, allowing us to be transparent about our ESG impact and performance.

Key benefits from the introduction of Sweep include:

  • Accurate emissions tracking
  • Better informed decarbonisation strategies
  • Alignment with international standards – GHG Protocol and ISO14064

Aoife O’Donnell, Head of Sustainability, compliments Sweep, saying it “has allowed us to report more frequently and accurately and has helped us to model our decarbonisation trajectories.

The decarbonisation trajectories mentioned are as followed:

  • Green Energy Solutions – for office buildings, such as PV Solar.
  • Energy Efficiency – in offices and sites, introducing energy-efficient processes.
  • Transportation – electric vehicles and lower-carbon fuel sources.

Thanks to Sweep, we’ve been able to fully focus on the multiple initiatives needed to help us achieve our 2032 SBTi-approved targets. We pledge to continue our collaboration with Sweep with the aim of improving and automating the collection of ESG Data, streamlining engagement with our supply chain and achieving our Scope 3 emissions reduction goal by 2032.
