Company Activity

At Jones, we recognise the growing awareness around the demand for responsible business behaviour with issues relating to sustainability, ethics and respect for all of our stakeholders. We are extremely passionate about culture, diversity and inclusiveness in the workplace and recognise the impacts that they have on both their environment and the society in which they operate.

Jones Engineering Christmas Charities

Thanks to you we have been able to support these charities close to our heart.

When we act alone it can be hard to make a difference but when we come together as a team we make change possible. In Jones Engineering we are delighted to be able to support some truly amazing charities which are very near and dear to us. This is only possible because of you!

Make-A-Wish Ireland

Make-A-Wish Ireland has one simple aim – to grant the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions, to bring hope, strength and happiness.

Since 1992, Make-A-Wish has granted wishes for more than 2,600 brave children across Ireland, including 181 wishes granted in 2019 alone. A wish granted is true magic for the child, providing respite from their normal routines of hospitals, doctors and treatment.

We have organised fundraisers for Make-A-Wish Ireland in the past and it is a delight when we hear about the wishes we have helped to support in coming true. The strength, courage and optimism of the children is truly inspiring.

We have a very special connection with this charity. One member of the Jones Engineering Team has personally raised a phenomenal amount of money for Make-A-Wish Ireland. At the time of writing this was €30,000. However, his efforts were not focused on fundraising alone. In memory of Béibhinn, the heart angel, and to help embrace the kindness she brought to the world in her 9 short years he began the ‘Random Act of Kindness’ challenge.

He has prompted us all to look at the opportunities we have every day to increase the happiness of those around us and help make Béibhinn’s wish come true to make the world a happier place. We would love for you to take part in the ‘Random Act of Kindness’ challenge. To find out more about how you can get involved visit this website: https://www.theheartangel.com/random-act-of-kindness

Pieta House

Pieta House first opened its doors in Dublin in 2006. Since then they have seen and helped over 58,000 people in suicidal distress or engaging in self-harm.

They now operate fifteen centres and five outreach service across Ireland. Pieta employs over 200 therapists and administration staff, and the demand for their service is increasing.

In Jones Engineering the mental health and wellbeing of all our staff is of upmost importance, it goes hand in hand with our focus on physical safety. Over the years we have engaged with Pieta House on how best we can support our employees in this regard.

The Pieta vision is a world where suicide, self-harm and stigma have been replaced by hope, self-care and acceptance and their mission is to support people and communities in crisis by providing freely accessible, professional services to all. We feel privileged to be able to support them in working towards these goals.

“This is incredible, it will have such a wonderful impact on our services and for all our clients. We say at Pieta that while our service is free, it costs Pieta approx. €1,000 to put one person through our service. Jones Engineering will be helping Pieta save ten lives with your donation.”

Merchants Quay Ireland

Merchants Quay Ireland is a national voluntary organization that helps people who are homeless and those caught in addiction. They provide frontline services, practical supports, pathways towards recovery and innovative responses to the issues of drug use and homelessness in Ireland.

As well as vital and necessary services such as health care, dental care, homeless services and drug services MQI also run a Community Employment Scheme (DSP). This is a programme which offers structured life skills training, personal development work and therapeutic groups to help people who use drugs reintegrate into society. The group using this service are younger people, 83% of participants are aged between 18-39. The group seeks to establish a regular pattern of discipline and daily attendance in order to help people stabilise their drug use and prepare people for mainstream training and employment.

Merchants Quay Ireland’s holistic approach to tackling their client’s challenges mirrors our own ethos. It’s important to step back and look at the big picture, problems don’t exist in isolation, they are a product of the whole and tackling them as such will bring the best benefits to the client.

St. Vincent de Paul

Like Jones Engineering, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVP) has a long history in Ireland. It was founded in Ireland in 1844, less than 50 years before our original company was founded. It is the largest voluntary charitable organisation in Ireland and during its history it has helped people in need through a Famine, a Civil War, a War of Independence, two World Wars and several economic recessions.

Their focus is on a practical approach to dealing with poverty, alleviating its effects on individuals and families through working primarily in person-to-person contact by a unique system of family visitation and seeking to achieve social justice and equality of opportunity for all citizens.

In addition to providing direct assistance to those in need, caring for the homeless, providing social housing, operating holiday homes and other social support activities, the Society promotes community self-sufficiency, enabling people to help themselves. Any assistance offered by the Society is given in a non-judgemental spirit, based on the needs of the individual or family seeking help.

St. Vincent de Paul provide a wide range of services all over Ireland and we are so grateful to you for allowing us to continue to support them.
