ICCS Annual Gala
The Irish Chamber of Commerce in Sweden hosted their annual Gala and Beacon Award last Saturday at the Elite Marina Hotel in Stockholm and we were very proud to be the headline sponsor. An evening of networking, entertainment, and celebrations were had. Events like this fit perfectly with our growth strategy into Sweden and Northern Europe, where we currently work with a range of blue chip multinational companies.
Led by the ambassadors from Ireland, Ukraine and New Zealand, the attendees ranged from the major engineering and construction companies to young academics at the very beginning of their careers, and everyone in between.
The day began with a well-attended networking event featuring businesses and traders of all sizes, with the “Irish In Sweden” podcast on hand to record interviews with some of the participants. Our very own William O’Shaughnessy delivered a speech at the opening of the networking event where he discussed the ICCS theme of resilience for this year’s Gala Event and he let us remember that resilience is not just a characteristic, it is our collective strength.
Rory O’Connor was interviewed by Philip O’Connor for the Irish in Sweden podcast where he discussed moving his family to Sweden over 4 years ago and talked about the many benefits the country has to offer both from a work and lifestyle point of view.
Keynote speaker on the night was Dr. Lisen Schults, Deputy Director of the Stockholm Resilience Centre. Lisen’s esteemed leadership in sustainability education and resilience thinking has pioneered transformative practices. Her insights promise to equip us with the wisdom to navigate and shape a sustainable future.
Operations directors David Fox and Eoin Brown along with William O’Shaughnessy had the pleasure of getting some ever important face time with the newly appointed Ambassador of Ireland to Sweden, Barbara Jones.
Brewer Ivan Keane was named as the winner of the prestigious Beacon award to round off a stunning event. The hard-working Irish brewer could not be on hand to collect the award, so last year’s recipient Neil Costigan stepped in to do the honours, crowning an event that has fast become indispensable in the Swedish-Irish social calendar.
