Jones Engineering Safety Seminars
Inspired by this year’s CIF Construction Safety Campaign, we recently held seminars that provided our employees with practical guidance, key compliance updates, and served as a powerful reminder of why safety must remain central to everything we do.
The seminars, held in both Dublin and Cork, gave us an opportunity to share our safety aims and objectives for the year, emphasising the importance of visible leadership, personal accountability and maintaining consistently high standards across all projects and workplaces.
Declan Grady, Group EHS Manager, provided an overview of our EHS performance, rec ent progress and priority areas for continued improvement. The presentation highlighted the importance of learning from incidents and near misses, reporting concerns at an early stage and ensuring that corrective actions are completed effectively. Everyone was reminded that safety is a shared responsibility and that we must never become complacent, particularly when carrying out routine or familiar tasks
Different types of demonstrations were provided. Theatre at Work delivered an engaging and thought-provoking safety demonstration that brought everyday workplace risks and their potential consequences into sharp focus. The session illustrated how seemingly minor decisions, distractions or unsafe behaviours can contribute to serious incidents. Virtual Driving Hub provided immersive virtual reality demonstrations that allowed attendees to experience workplace and driving hazards in a safe and controlled environment. These demonstrations showed how technology can support practical training, improve hazard awareness and help individuals understand the consequences of decisions before encountering similar situations in the workplace.
The seminar concluded with Steven Kirby’s impactful ‘One Choice, One Life’ presentation. Steven shared his personal experience of how a workplace incident changed his life. His story highlighted how one decision can have lasting consequences, not only for the individual involved, but also for their family, colleagues and the wider organisation.
We took some time to honour our own employees for the strides they’re making in safety. Congratulations to Liam Sexton, Tom Murray, James Gill, Eddie Braz, Stephen Kavanagh, Jason Perry, Rei Alves, William Doyle, Eoin Cahill, Eddie Winter, Stephen O’Neill, Brian Holland for their extraordinary work.
At Jones Engineering, safety is non-negotiable, and we will continue to emphasise this throughout CIF Safety Week, and every other day of the year.
